A large and finely modelled plaster bust depicting the youthful Augustus (Octavian), produced by D. Brucciani & Co., London, catalogue no. 458 (“Young Augustus”) in the firm’s published list of casts.

Reflecting an early imperial portrait type, the restrained expression and subtle contrapposto of the head evoke the formative image of Augustus prior to the Prima Porta type, capturing the balance between youthful naturalism and emerging imperial authority.
