A large and finely cast museum plaster relief depicting the noble Ramose and his wife Merit-Ptah, after the celebrated wall reliefs from the Theban tomb of Ramose (TT55), dating to the reign of Amenhotep III (c. 1390–1352 BC).
Deaccessioned from the collection of Doncaster Museum, this piece forms part of the long-standing museum tradition of producing and holding plaster casts of important antiquities for study, display, and public education. Such casts were widely used across British institutions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, offering direct engagement with canonical works otherwise inaccessible.
The relief itself is crisply modelled, with finely striated wigs, detailed usekh collars, and a ceremonial fan held by Ramose.
