A rare and striking matched pair: a beautifully preserved hawksbill sea turtle shell accompanied by its skull, both dating to the 19th century. The shell is superbly polished, showcasing the distinctive amber and dark brown patterning typical of this critically endangered species, while the skull is exceptionally intact and exhibits rich tortoiseshell colouring throughout.
Both items are genuine antique specimens, cleaned and prepared for display in the period, and together they form a remarkable natural history display piece.
These specimens fall under the pre-1947 derogation of the UK Wildlife Trade Regulations. As such, they are exempt from Article 10 certification and are legal for sale within the UK.
